apparently there is this magical land called trader joe's...

that everyone can't believe I've never been to
and apparently they have magical foodstuffs
and unicorn-flavored coffee
and sunbeam-infused hummus
and sparkles and sprinkles and rainbows
and baba ghanoush made out of tax returns, new car smell, and manolo blahniks

but I don't believe it really exists.

  1. They really do have amazing frozen snacks. I am in love with their truffle pizza and the mushroom turnovers. Check it out one day!

  2. It does exist.

And it's calling to me from this side of the bloody Joe's-less fracking pond.

    Tease.

    *grumbles and lights ciggie*

  3. We don't have them out here in the sticks either, but I sure would like to try some of that sunbeam infused hummus...

Do they have fairy wonderland corn chips?

  4. i don't mind trader joe's. but it's awfully healthy. i mean, it's like whole foods. there are some GREAT things there, but most of it seems like overpriced organic bullshit.

  6. Never set foot in a Trader Joe's. They are hard to find here in the back of beyond. I think it might be fun to wander through once to see the wonderment.

  7. All of what you say about the place is true. Whenever I'm in California, I wander around a TJ (as I like to call it, just to make me sound more inane) for about an hour to take in the ambiance. Then I walk out with the purchase of a bottle of Snapple.

  9. I've never heard of it, but that doesn't mean it doesn't exist. Tell them you want proof!

  10. So how come we don't have Trader Joe's here? Am I destined to stuff my face with McDonald's for eternity? Not fair.

  11. To be fair, they do have good hummus. I'm typically a hummus hater, but I will gobble theirs like it's going out of style. OM NOM NOM NOM

  12. We don't have one in our town either, however. . .I have lived in TJ towns and .. . . .it's nice. I like it. But magical?

I suppose it's magical if you think PF Changs is magical. (I don't).

I do look forward to their pork pot stickers though. (At both TJ's and PF's.)

  15. They also break out into a chorus of "My Little Grass Shack" when you walk in the door and the shopping bags are made of braided angel hair.

    I love Trader Joe's.~

  17. I've never been to a Trader Joe's either. Kansas City just about peed itself when it was announced that one was being opened in the area. (It's really being opened in Overland Park, KS, which is kind of a yuppy city so I'm surprised such a granola store chose to set up shop there. I also don't consider OP part of KC. It' a neighboring town. Anyway...) Don't feel bad about not going, they aren't all over the place. However, supposedly foodies will orgasm just from entering the place so I suppose if you want to be a foody (and if I'm truly going to consider myself one) than you (we) should go. Good lord I'm rambling tonight.

  18. I've never been there, and somehow I'm still alive. Or maybe I only exist in some sort of Trader Joe's-less netherworld where people only THINK they're alive but they're not... *Shivers*

  19. Trader Joe's. As good as legend would have you believe. But be ready to leave with stuff you didn't intend to buy. Freeze-dried lychee fruit, for example. Not that I've had any.
